Momma pig delivered 7 great looking, well above average in intelligence, babies this morning.  Our dog is keeping guard just outside the pen.

I don't think you're aloud to make a post like that without including some piglet pictures. Please!

Yes, I am giving momma time to destress.   The dog and I are allowed to visit….just not too long.  So, pictures tomorrow.

Speaking of visitors, I went to check on momma this evening…a few minutes ago.  Reno, the boar, had busted  out and was laying pressed up against the closed door to the barn.  I opened the door so he could check on his lady love. Then he politely followed me back to his pen.  Between the dog ( German Shepherd/Border Collie mix), who dearly loves her pigs, and Reno, God help anything who try’s to harm Sassafras or her babies.  And, I have already seen what Sassafras can do to a Raccoon.

Oh yes, Reno…..he ripped through a woven wire fence, tore a pallet to shreds, tossed a roofing panel aside, and entered the adjoining pen.  Then he ripped the steel gate off of that pen so he could stroll to the barn. I have some work to do tomorrow.  Normally he is the most gentle soul on earth.

Well, that didn’t turn out great.  At least there is evidence the heat lamp is hot enough.  I need to raise it a little.
