and another fox tune.....we didn't have any screens when our boys were growing up...we played this one on guitar and everyone sang along.....

"The Fox"

The Fox went out on a chilly night
He prayed for the moon to give him light
For he had many a mile to go that night
Before he reached the town-o, town-o, town-o
He had many a mile to go that night
Before he reached the town-o

He ran till he came to the farmers pen
The ducks and the geese were kept therein
He said a couple of you are gonna grease my chin
Before I leave this town-o, town-o, town-o
A couple of you are gonna grease my chin
Before I leave this town-o

[BRIDGE (Mandolin)]

He grabbed the great goose by the neck
He threw a duck across his back
And he didn't mind the quack, quack
And the legs all danglin' down-o, down-o, down-o
He didn't mind the quack, quack
And the legs all danglin' down-o

Well the old gray Woman jumped out of bed
Out of the window she popped her head
Cryin' John, John the great goose is gone
The Fox is on the town-o, town-o, town-o
John, John the great goose is gone
And the Fox is on the town-o

[BRIDGE (Fiddle)]

He ran till he came to his nice warm den
And there were the little ones 8, 9, 10
Sayin' Daddy, Daddy better go back again
It must be a mighty fine town-o, town-o, town-o
Daddy, Daddy go back again
For it must be a mighty fine town-o

The Fox and his Wife, without any strife
They cut up the goose with a fork and a knife
And they never had such a supper in their life
And the little ones chewed on the bones-o, bones-o, bones-o
They never had such a supper in their life
And the little ones chewed on the bones

another nice one to learn on guitar........

Lyrics to Garden Song [Chorus:]
Inch by inch, row by row,
Gonna make this garden grow.
Gonna mulch it deep and low,
Gonna make it fertile ground.
Inch by inch, row by row,
Please bless these seeds I sow.
Please keep them safe below
'Til the rain comes tumbling down.

Pullin' weeds and pickin' stones,
We are made of dreams and bones
Need spot to call my own
Cause the time is close at hand.
Grain for grain, sun and rain
I'll find my way in nature's chain
Tune my body and my brain
To the music of the land.

[Chorus]

Plant your rows straight and long,
Season them with a prayer and song
Mother earth will keep you strong
If you give her love and care.
Old crow watching from a tree
Has his hungry eyes on me
In my garden I'm as free
As that feathered thief up there.

Judith-that cracks me up (as they say in these parts...) that first clip seems so far from your taste-
I was quite relieved to see the good ol' 'fox went out' song
I love kid's music and writing.
Damn-farm related songs?
Well, in my defence, Badjelly has a cow, a worm and a tree in it, but it's a story.
Us kids listened to this fairly obsessively...

fatcat and fishface do some really funny songs-for the first hundred or so plays that is...

I have to let my computer cool down before I play your videos....thanks, for posting them Leila...the bit I listened to sounds great!
If you think my first choice is out of character, try this....I go visit grandkids and ask them to play their favorites for me....this is one I like even better than 'what does the fox say'
in my earlier life i was an art major and caught up in strange multi media 'happenings' among my peers....I still love off the wall stuff, I am just out of the loop these days.

this was a bit after my time, but my little friend that i used to babysit loved this movie, so i have seen it a bunch of times, good overall messages throughout:
