Hello!

It's getting to be seed starting season, and I'd love to help you succeed with your seeds this year!

I've been growing from seed for about 15 years, and have failed at in just about every way imaginable over that time.  Let me help you avoid all the pitfalls!

Here's a link to signup for my FREE 1-hour class on Wed Feb 4th at 3PM PST / 6PM EST: https://ortakitchengarden.com/pages/permies-seed-class-org-landing-2

One of the ways that I succeed now is that I make self-watering terracotta pots that keep seedlings perfectly watered while only filling them about once a week.

I will NOT be using the webinar as a sales pitch for my pots. (I really hate classes like that!).  I will, however send you some helpful newsletters and a product discount if you do decide you might like to try what I make, which you can take or leave as you choose.

Here's what I'll be covering in the class:

- How to choose which seeds are right for YOU.  Landrace?  Heirloom? Hybrids?  What do those terms even mean??

- How to set up an indoor seed-starting station economically.  (Hint: if it's called a "grow light" you're probably paying too much for it.)

- How to troubleshoot and avoid common pitfalls before they happen.  Ask me how I know.

Hope to see you at the online class!

In the meantime, if you have any seed starting questions, add them to this thread and I'll do my best to answer them.

Do you mind writing here what kind of light you are using, with maybe a link to the product?

Anne,

Thank you for putting your time and knowledge out there for everyone.  That certainly deserves an 'apple'.  I wish I could attend but time zones and schedules don't mesh.  it would be great if it could be recorded and put up on a service somewhere for future reference.

Best wishes on your webinar, I hope it reaches a wide audience.

Thank you! I'm starting for the first time this year, and this seems a much better route than the "wing it" plan I had before. Is there somewhere to sign up on the link or do we just click on it on Wednesday?

Hi Anne,

I clicked in the link which brought me to your landing page, but there is nowhere that I saw to actually sign up for the class.

Hi Hans,

I'm not the original poster, but when I used to grow microgreens for our local health food store (quite successfully as far as starting all kind of seeds), I simply used the workshop type of fluorescent lights. I used a double ballister (I think that's what they're called - they hold 2 fluoresencts) and would put a warm and a cool fluorescent bulb in them, then hang them above the seed trays. I would also go to our local Habitat for Humanity restore, where they always had a lot of those types of bulbs for very inexpensive. It felt good to recycle while growing the seeds. I did that for more than 4 years using only those kind of "grow lights", and everything grew quite prolifically.

I agree. Here's the link: http://stoves2.com
