Obviously, the most straightforward method of solar clothes drying is two post and some rope. Tried and true, we all love it.

Well as part of his ongoing solar collector series, Greenhill Forge has figured out a way to disconnect the heating element from a regular electric clothes dryer and run it off heat from his diy flat panel solar collector(s) instead.

By running only the tumble motor, no heater, it took only 155watts to dry a load vs 2400watts. Power consumption will never beat a rope and a sunbeam, but if part of the goal is to maintain modern convenience, then this is a significant upgrade.
