Any drip lines or drip tape work well with dirty water?

We have been sort of flood irrigating our garden while getting started.  We also walk through the garden and walk aground watering.  But this has been a bit of labor and we want to make our lives easier, also we have had some failures doing our current garden setup (I know there are almost always some, but we want to decrease them).  We have been thinking of adding drip lines, soaker hoses, or drip tape type of systems.  On top of the line we might add more mulch to retain the water.  We are also considering making our own drip line by taking 3/4" poly pipe and drilling holes in it.

so the question here is, has anyone drilled holes in their own pipes?  If so what length and what size holes and what spacing?  Also our water is coming from a pretty dirty spring, so would that clog the pipe, hose, drip line, or soaker hose up and cause frustrations?  It grows some algae, has living little critters, and other whatevers.  We have a screen over the pump inside a bucket but things get through.

Perhaps not the most elegant post here, just seeing if anyone has some ideas to help my family out here.

I used an old 1/2 inch hosepipe to trickle water my old polytunnel - There is a tool like a punch that just makes a tiny hole about 1/10 or 1/8 inch (it shrinks a bit due to elasticity of the pipe). The tricky thing I found was getting the watering evenly over the length of the pipe.  The water tends to come out more at the start and then the pressure drops as it went along the pipe. The spacing/size of the holes and slope of the garden can influence that. I did also find that the holes did get clogged a bit as the pipe just sat on the ground and didn't run all the time. It wasn't a big problem though. I'm thinking of reusing the pipe now in my new tunnel, but as I have less gravity (just rain collection) I'm still exploring the possibilities.
My water was just out of the stream and was clean enough - just fed by gravity as I live on a hill. I would suggest a settlement tank to take out debris, but if you are pumping the water and don't have gravity to help, then you would end up pumping twice.

I use 3/4" lines. One time I punched holes (every 30 cm) to water potatoes. The first few plants got water, those closer to the end of 10 m long line got almost nothing. Since then I always add pressure compensating emitters. They cost me $0.30 a piece and I always keep extra 50 at hand. I use the same emitters for my orchards.

Regarding the dirty water - they will clog and mine are not really cleanable (sometimes I use thin wire), but I chose them, because they have highest yield (40 l/h) from all emitters I researched. There exist emitters that can be disassembled and cleaned.

If I had dirty water, I would go with the poly pipe with holes drilled in it.  There is still a chance that the holes might get clog though maybe a lesser chance.

Maybe making the holes larger towards the end of the pipe might help.
