Hi I am seeing on the web that buckwheat causes sun blisters in lightly coloured pigs, including red breeds like Tamworths.  Can anyone confirm?  I have some rough pastures that I want to renovate with pigs . I'd like to seed in buckwheat behind them  as a future lysine source.  I have a local source of Tamworths but I cant find any Large Black or Berkshires  nearby.

I also think this is something someone posted on the web sometime ago somewhere and is now considered gospel.  Id love to know if anyone can confirm ?  Its also probably dose dependent and they wont be eating just buckwheat but a diverse pastured diet.

It looks like it actually goes back almost 100 years! I found this research paper from 1928 talking about the issue. I haven't read it all, but it might give some pointers as to dosage and whether it is likely to be an issue with your livestock.
