I am intrigued by what the ancestry of a place brings to a design. Here in west wales, there is a history of independent, small scale farms, as opposed to big estates, and an essence of standing up to oppression. It would be very personal for each person the relevance of any given history. So in this example, I find myself drawing on this rugged hereditary
energy in my designs.
Transitions of the
land, or myself or other people involved, such as illness, children growing up, past uses of the land etc, feel important edges to explore. No fixed answers, though filled with information.
