While it is probably impossible to restore an indigenous ecosystem on a small piece of land, and it is better to provide for human needs close to the human home, there might be a place in the home garden for some native plants which would attract a wider diversity of insect and bird life, with all the ecosystem services they provide.
And a scattering of native species across the landscape can at least provide some limited habitat for native species, even if only as stepping stones or corridors as they migrate between more intact ecosystems
