Hi everybody.

There's a customer of mine, who asked me to make a fence door out of "pin autoclave" (autoclaved pine)

Which is a pine, treated with chemicals, has a green tinge.

And i was wondering what i used to make that door?

What chemicals are in that stuff?

Thanks a lot.

Max.

Hi Satamax,

Most likely a copper arsenic derivative or related "icky."

I would design a all wood joinery door with either protected and/or self draining joints and finish in a good old slathering of Pine Tar Oil and perhaps a few others.

Do they want it natural or a color finish?

Regards, j

Thanks a lot Jay, but it's finished, i've made it nearly a month ago.

Actualy i quite like the result. But not knowing what was in there bothers me a bit.

Thanks again.

Max.
