We plan to build a small earthbag home over the summer. We live in central Maine. Due to the cold, we clearly need good insulation. Looking for tips on insulating or where to get scoria for the insulation or any other advice about building in a cold climate. Thanks in advance!
Canadian Dirtbags is a good blog to read and follow. If I can answer any specifics or help in any what let me know. What I can share is...if all you have is the ground under you feet than that is what one should build with...if you have more resources...then I would probably suggest looking at something other than an earth bag build...
Wise rule:
"...Always look to the vernacular architecture of a region for the guidance on what is the best architectural format to follow..."
Good luck and keep us all up to date with your project!
