too much urine in compost?

I've been putting quite a bit of urine on my compost heaps and hugelkultur/keyhole logs and a friend said I should take into consideration too much sodium from the urine could salinate the soil/compost.
Can you put too much piss on a pile of leaves?

how much rain do you get? how good does the soil drain?

if your soil is heavy clay or for some reason does not drain well and you don't get much rain then it would be more of a problem. If your soil drains very well and you get enough rain then it should dilute it and it would either take a lot longer (a lot more) urine to cause problems. Also some plants are going to be more sensitive to salt than others.

Live in E Washington state, 7-8 inches of rain annually.
Most of it is going into the compost heap, and a bit going into the lower level of a keyhole, which is filled with logs.

If I switch to a low sodium diet, would that help?

yes I think how much salt you take in will have a direct impact on how much comes out.

I don't know what the magic number is for how much is going to be too much, it can also be an issue with gray water.

Personally I say just make sure you stay properly hydrated and it shouldn't be a problem.

Salt and urine work backwards from how most people think they work. You don't urinate out excess salt so much as your body dilutes it by holding water. Likewise when salt is low you body ramps up urine production to purge water which increases the concentration of salt. In truth there's only trace amounts of sodium in urine.

Either way just spread it around and dilute it with water first and I can't see it being an issue.
