The water beneath is nice and clean. Duck weed usually dominates the surface of the pond. Any ideas on what this is and whether the ducks will eat it.

The ducks will eat it.

Azolla=winter feed (water temp below 50F)
Duckweed=summer feed (water temp above 50F)

Iterations are fine, we don't have to be perfect

From what I've read, Azola nearly always has nitrogen fixing Anabaena algae inside it. Should make for a great mulch!

Is this pond publicly accessible? If so I might scoop some to test in a small pond here, to see if it outproduces duckweed for mulch purposes...

It's on the south side of Government House, on Rockland. We should both grab some.

Has anyone here eaten it?

Thought it looked like somewhere I should recognize. Thanks, I'll swing by there next time I'm in the area, and report back if anything comes of it.

We get a decent amount of mulch from duckweed in our little cement reservoir, but it's not really doing anything this early in the year. We're certainly a week or three behind Rockland in temperature terms, though.
