We are happy to introduce a one of a kind project and opportunity designed by Sepp Holzer in May 2012.

25 Acres East Facing Savanna Hillside Rich In Native Plants.
35 Acres Of Sloped Fenced Pastures Perfect For Alley Cropping Or Life Stock
25 Acres Of River Birch, Aspen, Cottenwood, Marsh/Wetlands
10 Acres Of Hugelcultures, Ponds, Raised Beds & Gardens
2 separate tax parcels. 75 acres and 20 acres.
It is a thriving complex of winding hugels that create courtyards filled with permanent raised beds. The hugels are stocked with perennial and self-seeding annual plants. The hugel courtyard, featuring over 1 kilometers of 6’ hugels, is sub-irrigated by surrounding ponds. Much of the courtyard has already been fenced and has additional irrigation installed for the hugels raised beds and gardens. The irrigation is primarily fed by the uppermost pond and features a back-up pump that draws water directly from the lower ponds.
The waterways feature over 3 acres of water surface with seven distinct water bodies that can be individually regulated. The energized and crystal clear waters of the ponds vary in depth up to 16’ and are primed for a natural aquaculture system; they already host fish and crawdad populations. Each pond has a unique role in the system such as a fish kindergarten, a swimming hole, providing irrigation, wildlife habitat & turtle nursery, or growing garden mulch.
Please go to www.placeofgathering.com and click on "waterways and gardens" for pictures, the history and a more detailed description of the work we have done here in the last 5 years.
In addition the land features 25 acres of beautiful gentle accessible hillside rich in a variety of wildflowers and native plants. 35 acres of sloped fenced pastures with stunning views over Flathead Lake and the Mission Mountains and 25 acres of pristine wetlands that offer bird and wildlife habitat.
The Project was designed by Sepp Holzer in May 2012. Katharina Hirsch who purchased the land and started the project, feels her role as steward is complete and is ready to let her inspirations take her on a new path and wants to offer this one of a kind creation to the permaculture community. The gardens and hugels are cultivated and managed by Michael Billington through Nourinshing Roots Farms.
(Michael worked directly with Sepp Holzer in the creation of this ecologic wonderworld and has been developing and managing the gardens since 2012. He is available to help to acclimate the new owners to the many nuances and complexities of this regenerating landscape. Additionally he is open to discussing long term collaboration. He can be contacted directly @ www.nourishingrootsfarm.com or email@example.com.
