Hello Everyone,

My boyfriend and I are seeking to start a permaculture community in Mid or South Florida. We want year round growing and the paradise that Florida provides. We are looking for partners in this endeavor, people to buy property with. We would ideally love to go in with enough people to buy the land or a house with land outright with no loans.

What we want to do:
Be as self-sufficient as possible, grow all our own food permaculture style, eventually or initially go off-grid
We would also love to have some sort of a permaculture demonstration workshop component, an artist retreat component, and a spiritual retreat component
We are also interested in having the property gain income with a co-op type living arrangement where we rent rooms to people of similar interests

Who we are looking for:
Nice, easy-going people to partner with on this, you must also have the main goal of being self-sufficient and going off-grid eventually
People who are looking to invest in the near-term, we want to start living this lifestyle ASAP

Please PM me if you are interested.

Thank you!

Scratch that friends ~ we relocated to Hilo, HI, which is truly paradisiacal & affordable.
If you are around the Big Island and have some groovy stuff going on, or if you are contemplating packing your bags and buying a one way ticket to Hawaii, please let us know!

Much love ~

Ashton and Nick

Hello Ashton and Nick. What do you have going on in Hilo? Did you find some land? Looking for workers, partners, builders? I am a builder and want to delve into permaculture and could feature living in Hawaii for the winter or longer. Let me know what's up. fvedder9@gmail.com or 313-570-8699 thanks, Freddie Vedder

Ashton, are you still looking at building community ? I can change the title of the post to reflect that you are in Hilo if you want me to.

Aloha Miles,

It would be awesome if you could update the title!
We are still looking to create a community with the right folks.
We bought 3 acres in Mountain View a few months ago & are currently completely off grid. We are looking to get on rain catchment & solar sometime in 2017. For now we are planting tons of perennials, mainly exotic fruit & nut trees!

Hello!

My name is Thomas and I currently live in Colorado. However come January I will be getting on a plane for the big island with a one way ticket. I am on a healing quest of sorts. My permaculture journey began in 2013 when I went out to NY to live on a medicinal herb farm and learn all about herbal medicine; this journey opened my eyes to so much more than I ever expected and since then I have been on a path of trying to connect to the earth and live in a land based manner. I have lived on a few farms since then and I have been building for a few years now, specifically straw bale and natural building stuff. While in NY I unfortunately got a solid case of Lymes disease that I have been struggling with since. I recently met someone who has worked a lot with this tricky condition and her protocol that I have just begun is all about providing the conditions for the body to heal itself which manifests in eating completely raw and supporting the body with herbs. And so, I am traveling to Hawaii because it is winter here in Colorado and so difficult to eat raw when the local food isn't ready! And so I am reaching out to you guys as I have just stumbled upon your post, for my current limited plans are to stay on the big island and hopefully find a great supportive community in which to do this healing. I don't have much money and so I was hoping to find some sort of work trade situation for lodging and fresh food. I have found quite a few farms listed on the ATTRA website so far, but nothing is set in stone yet. While I will be spending much energy healing and there may be a day or two here or there where I feel less than perfect and find that I am unable to do all my daily work, I believe for the most part that this would not be an issue for I have been doing professional construction for the past two years now at a satisfactory level. So perhaps you could tell me a bit more about your project and if there might be a possibility to stay for a time? I am planning on somewhere around 6-8 months in Hawaii dedicated to healing. And if there is not a place with you, perhaps you are aware of somewhere else that might be a better fit?

I look forward to hearing from you and I hope you have a lovely day,

Thomas
