The outdoor, public pianos of Oak Bay

The city of Oak Bay,  which is part of greater Victoria,  has pianos in prominent locations throughout parks and on boulevards. Locals and tourists gather around for impromptu recitals by both amateurs and professionals. We have a long dry season. A simple plastic cover protects the pianos at night.  They are stored during the rainy season.

Used pianos are very difficult to sell,  so many are donated to the city.

 The man in the first photo played while his wife listened.

 This child was at the beach with the piano teacher.

 The woman in the last couple of photos is a piano teacher and a composer. Her skills were amazing.

That's my favourite song to sing while milking. The rhythm is just right.
