Also, I liked this description from their website:
The Building Resilient Communities Convergence, at the beautiful Solar Living Institute, brings together the best of the Northern California Permaculture Convergence and the Northern California Regional Transition Network Conference for a dynamic and engaging weekend designed to build a powerful movement for community resilience.
Whether you are a seasoned permaculturalist, green business entrepreneur festival goer, sustainability enthusiast, or just excited to enjoy a weekend of fantastic people, good music, food, campfires and opportunities to learn about new ways of living in thriving resilience with people and the planet… there is something at this Convergence for you!
Here are some videos of their keynotes from 2013:
Boom. There ya go folks. It's going to be an amazing time. I will be there prancing around all day on Friday I believe - so come say hi to me if you come!
I am VERY interested in resilient communities, as I belong to a local CERT. I also maintain the emergency generators and other emergency "stuff" for our building.
Curious about the conference here. Looks like it might be great, but I wonder sometimes- especially about California. Curious if this is going to be a conference about true resilience or if it's one of those conferences where folks basically call for yet more regulations, dollars and CFL's... Not trying to be inflammatory, just curious what you will find.
Please report back and let us know about what you found while attending!
I'm here at the convergence. It would be great to meet some other people from the forums. It's a fairly small gathering so we'd probably bump into one another anyway... anyhow, any permies that want to meet up, feel free to purple moosage me. Looking forward to the workshops today.
