I spend a LOT of time creating threads for other people's products, businesses, kickstarters,
books, dvds, conferences, the works.
So, my goal by posting this is to save myself some time by showing you all how to do it so that you can post amazing threads for your own stuff so I don't have to. Thus, giving me time to focus on, ya know, infecting brainy brains with
permaculture!
Here are some of the great, rich threads I've posted:
Permaculture Voices Conference Thread
Milkwood Permaculture Thread
Northwest Edible: life on garden time Thread
Northern California Permaculture Convergence Thread
Artisans of the Grasslands Conference Thread
International Permaculture Convergence Thread
at the bottom of the threads, you can see how many times the
thread has been viewed.
alright, now let's talk about why those threads are great, and how you can make a thread for your stuff like them.
1. Post Tons of Pictures
Especially with the new look and feel of permies.com, with the thumbnails showing up, it is VERY important to have pictures in your thread. And good ones too. If you don't know how to post pictures to permies.com,
In fact, here is a ridiculous picture of me, so that this thread has a thumbnail that intrigues people
enough to click on the thread. Muahahah:
2. Post Tons of Links
And make the link you want people to click
BIG and BOLD . If you don't know how to do that, I'll show you right now:
Just hilight your link and click the
b button i pointed to in the image above, and then hilight the link again and choose one of the bigger fonts, which i also pointed to above.
3. Post Videos if You Have Them
Here is a thread on how to embed youtube videos.
4. Don't Be Spammy
Feel free to post gobs and gobs of information about your product or business, but please at least try to come across as a real person.
note:while it is best that you post it, I would still be willing to do it for you..... for $200.
It
should also be noted that we TOTALLY encourage people to promote their stuff on permies, in fact, we talk about it
here,
here, and
here.
