There are worse places for Britons to settle. Pitcairn Island needs more people. A large segment of their population have been involved in crimes against children.

Tristan da Cunha was evacuated to South Africa, then England during a volcanic event in 1961. Decedents of those who did not return, live in England today. They have never had a war or the type of social problems experienced on Pitcairn.
