garden project tour

This little tour is of the south part of our property, here I have an infiltration basin with raspberry and rugosa rose, elswere is Jet black barley and Black goji.
Most excitingly is my first home-made worm bin, I had to line it with plastic to prevent possible rot, worms for fertilizer, possibly as a source of protein for chickens, last but not least, an aquaponic garden that I first did 2 years ago and had good results from experimentation.
I originally planned on having an aquaculture garden with at least 3 water troffs each at a higher level than the other so that the top can grow the water hyacinth, while the two could be used for raising fish, but projects like these can be very expensive, so maybe later I guess. https://permies.com/t/28233/plants/Water-hyacinth

The worm bin will be lined with extra plastic lining to hold in all the materials necessary for retaining the good stuff, poke a hole in the lowest points for drainage and there ya go.

I figure if I can deflect the heat away by growing the goji and select grasses, this would cut down on all the harmful heat we get.

Then there is the aquaponic garden.

just a stroll in the gawden, flowers galore.
Aphids, not to worry, we seem to have plenty of predators to invite you for dinner and tea.
Not forgetting a black hairy beast.

Just harvested some jet black barley, some mustard and lots more wood chips people throw away and wont miss.

I always wondered how one could grow their own fertilizer just like Paul Wheaton always promoted, and now I understand, that is why there are edges in the garden like weeds, such as the dreaded kochia, Lactuca seriola, burdock, green orach, sunflowers, feverfew, comfrey, willow braches and just about anything that grows without much irrigation, add to that and all the used coffee grounds I get from my pickup service, all the straw and leaves nobody wants and BAM!!! 140 degrees. so far I have noticed when all the edible leaf plants start losing their value as food, I bail them up and its off to the compost.
