I am young, fit, mobile and looking for some hands on
experience or
PDC training on the sooner than later. I have completely Photovoltaics level 1 and 2 at BCIT and attended an Earthship seminar in New Mexico. I recently converted my 4X4 van to run on Waste Vegetable Oil and have spent the last several years touring around to various eco villages and communities to witness the techniques they use and voice my questions and concerns.
I have worked with ecovillages in Belize and am not afraid of hard work or adverse weather/bug conditions (anyone that can take a rainforest tick nest and laugh about it deserves a bit of credit). I have reached a point where I feel I need to spend some time working with someone who can offer me mentorship and hands on experience before I head out into the world to create a haven to share with my peers.
I am willing to travel globally for the right opportunity, but would prefer to stay in North or Central America so I can transport myself there on WVO instead of burning fossil fuels (I know, WVO is not necessarily better for the environment, but I do like knowing that I am using waste materials instead of perpetuating an industry that needs to make like the dinosaurs it mines...)
I come complete with a strong back, work
boots, living quarters (if I am able to drive to your location), a valid drivers licence, 90 hours worth of first aid training (Advanced Wilderness), and an easy going attitude. I am an outdoors enthusiast and spend as much time as possible living/working outside. A former fishing guide and resident of Jasper National Park, anywhere that affords me the opportunity to head out on some hikes or possibly cast a line would be phenomenal. In the snowy season I love to hit the slopes or catch some time on snowshoes (I know it's just like hiking...but harder!)
I am NOT looking to be free labour on a farm. I would like to assist in building and maintenance as well as daily operations. I would like the opportunity to learn about the operation of your eco community/homestead while being given valuable insight on ways I can prepare myself for a position where I will be the one to whom young minds can turn to learn how to create off-grid
sustainable homes for a price they can afford.
We are at a time of evolution, and I would like to further my knowledge and experience so that I may create a space to share with a younger generation help them avoid the trap of north american consumerism and
mortgage slavery. We all have the power to live happily and free WITH this wonderful Earth, not just on it. Let's be the change we wish to see!
My main areas of interest are :
Off-grid power systems
Small scale, low impact farming
Waste
water treatment
Low impact housing using
local materials
Land preservation through intelligent human integration
If I sound like someone you would like to invite to be a part of your
project please send me a message or post in this
thread and I will respond ASAP. I also have a trailer that can be used for moving supplies around your property, and a starplate dome that can be easily set up.
I have a very open schedule at the moment and would be willing to commit anywhere from 3-6 months...possibly longer, but I think we can all agree that when the right people meet, it is impossible to say what will come of their interaction. I am working with a group of young minds hoping to start something of our own, but we have recognized that without some significant hands on experience, we would be silly to rush into land acquisition.
Thanks for reading! Hope to hear from you!
