Really Old Cow Manure in Tobacco Barn

I am closing on 6 acres withing a couple weeks. It has an old tobacco barn. One side was used for cattle at some point as the ground is covered in old cow patties. This is about a 45' x 15' area. The house has been vacant for about 8 years. What should I do with this old cow manure? Mix it into a compost pile with dry leaves and fresh cut yard waste? Is it okay to use? Should I be concerned with it at all?

If you're worried about any chemical residue that might remain in the manure, compost it. Then spread it on the garden.

Carbon is good. Aged carbon is all the better. Aged carbon that once came out of a cows butt --- the best.

Are you concerned about medications that the cows may have been taking? I would imagine that even if the cows were on meds, after it's aged in the sun and rain, there wouldn't be much left to be concerned about.
