I want to plant a dwarf Christmas tree or bush for my son in the front yard. I was looking for some direction or suggestions as what type and where to buy. I would like a small tree 6' max height, a tree that stays pretty and green year round(wife's request), one that stands up to adding and removing lights each year, and a tree that supports local wildlife. If I am missing anything, feel free to let me know. Thanks.
Yaupon Holly isn't exactly a traditional Christmas tree, but it is evergreen and could handle being trimmed into the appropriate shape and size. It's often used for topiary. If you have male cultivars in the area, then the female bushes are covered with bright red berries in the winter. At least part of Georgia is in the native range, and they're common in the nursery trade.
It's hard to fight evil. The little things, like a nice sandwich, really helps. Right tiny ad?
