(Thread split off from Ross Raven's Post Apocolyptic Permaculture Pig)

Ross, I'm having a blast reading through your website, though, reading about you having multiple "blasts" in the toilet, it made me wonder if you've heard of Florastor, or Saccharomyces Boulardii. It's a probiotic yeast that helps treat diarrhea and even C diff. My husband uses it for his Crohn's, and I've used it while on antibiotics to prevent the runs (since it's a yeast, it isn't killed by antibiotics), and I've read a lot of people carry a supply of it whenever they travel overseas to help with all the bowel issues that seem to come with all that tasty food and not-so-tasty water.

Thanks. We will try it out...as we think we got the next round of tummy cooties on our last trip.
I have noticed that those that read it, if they arent emediatly scared off, do tend to go back and read ALL the articles eventually. Im flattered.

That said, I gave you folks a shout out on my latest....

I actually did read through all your posts! They're quite entertaining, and informative, and are great for those times when my baby passes out on me for her nap, and I can barely move lest I wake her, but I can wiggle my finger enough to scroll through an article.

I hope the Saccharomyces Boulardii helps you! Digestive problems stink... literally AND figuratively!

I've been using this for a few weeks, two capsules a day, and it has really helped chill some of the side effects of my celiac. Night and day. It's still fighting back a little but settling down into I might want to continue living. Thank you!

I'm so glad it's helping you! Isn't it amazing when one small change can make such a difference? It really makes me wonder what else is out there that could make a dramatic difference in our lives or health, and we just don't know about it!

Oh! And an interesting fact I just learned is that kombucha SCOBYs often have S. Boularddi as one of their yeasts. Though, the SCOBYs tested in this study (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/1541-4337.12073/full) didn't have it, but did have other saccromycies yeasts, so results may vary. Supposedly this kombucha starter (https://www.happyherbalist.com/kombucha-mushroom-culture-saccharomyces-boulardii/) has it. My husband still has his kombucha SCOBY going, and I think we might just see what happens if we open up some S. Boulardii capsules in there. Perhaps it will help his Crohn's even more!
