I'm not certain I understand what you are asking.

Are you seeking somewhere to homestead?

Ah, so you and your wife would like someplace rural to live on short-term notice. You have to offer:

  • Trucks
  • Backwoods/survival skills and knowledge
  • Tools (what type?)
  • Hard work

  • Is there a specific region your looking for? Would you be interested in intentional communities, or living on someone's property in exchange for helping them out? We have quite a few forums that I can post your inquiry in, and some threads you might be interested in.

If Missouri isn't too far, you might try contacting Josh Everhart. He's part of a homestead cooperative that is looking for people to come, live and help out there. Here's the link to his profile. If you click the envelope icon, it'll take you to a page to write a message to him: https://permies.com/u/240210/Josh-everhart

If Montana sounds nice, and you have $100, you might be interested in Paul Wheaton's "Bootcamp" where labor is traded for food staples, permaculture training, and a place to pitch a tent. If you stay long enough, you can earn a place to rent for free. More info here: https://permies.com/t/59706/permaculture-projects/permaculture-bootcamp-learn-permaculture-hard
