I had some rail road spikes laying around and wondered if I could use them to split wood. I tried on a small tree that had feel some time ago. It worked pretty well for a free resource.

I'm really thinking about the oregon now. I am a lefty and kinda worried about chainsaws anway. I heard Paul talk about how electric ones are safer. Anyone try this with a chainsaw mill? Maybe bypass the battery and run off power?

Neat idea! I'll be trying that.

I want to find a scythe in a store. Granted it would probably be junk. I will have to end up hitting some yard sales and craigs list. For an original item I just saw on youtube a combination of an ax and a pickaroon. What a great concept.

Wow is that thing looking good. And definitely living up to the "Freaky Fast" in it's name.

I have a spare sleeping bag. Used maybe once or so rated to thirty degrees. I will not be by Montana anytime soon but could toss it in the mail.

Hello permies! I've been a lurker and long time fan of Pauls. I took a break from the podcast and have recently started back again. The episode I was listening to today mentioned sharing your blog on permies. I've linked here and to rich soil tons to help build Paul's empire. Anyway back to me, I have a blog in survival things, paleo cooking and punk. I take a strong diy approach to things and document when things work and when they fail miserably. I talk about tiny homes and homesteading. I've not wrote about permacukture yet being I have no land and much to learn. Although I'd love to run a guest post on it. If you like those sort of things come by www.survivalpunk.com thanks!

Good info. I've thought about making some easy wine like this. I do basically the same thing to make cider using whole foods organic Apple juice

I've looked into some of these devices over the years and none of them work. You can't get more energy out than is put in.
