Back here after a four-year hiatus. Hi!

My kid and I made a bee watering station over the course of two days. Our first attempt was too small and dried out quickly. This is a better version using a pie plate. We put it in a nice shady spot in the front yard. We've had a lot of pollinators around there this year so hoping they find it and enjoy it.

Materials: stones, a small ceramic tile, branches and twigs, moss, a bit of lichen, a fir cone, and flowers.

I, too, lost a button on my pajama top. Thought it would be a good opportunity to do a BB.

Hello! I was going through photos from last fall and realized that I did this. Made a series of whole wheat sourdough boules after joining an online class co-hosted by the WSU Bread Lab and Canlis.
Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E-4ckoMCWg
Recipe here: https://canlis.com/uploads/ClassNotes.pdf (starts on page 6).

Honestly, I found the recipe hard to follow. I've also struggled with homemade starter in the past and I think I made it hard on myself by going for 100% whole wheat. But they turned out OK! I plan to keep experimenting, maybe with a mix of white and whole grain, until I get a little more comfortable.

These photos are from one batch of 2 loaves. Only ingredients are flour, water, and salt (and wild yeast).
Himalayan blackberries are ripening all over town, so I went to work at a couple parks (the city doesn't spray park fruit.)

Picked a total of 2 lbs, 4 oz over two days.

Did this in two rounds due a to lower-than-expected jam yield...

First up: plum jam (#1 of 2 pints canned). Very tasty.

Second round: pickled baby Walla Walla sweet onions (#2 of 2 pints canned).

Both the plums and the onions were harvested from my backyard. Reused the canning water in the garden.
Okay, I'll give this a shot with savings account interest.

This is an Ally online savings account with an APY of 0.50%. It will continue to generate interest as long as I leave money in it, which I plan to for the foreseeable future.

Note: I share this account with another person. Dividing interest income by 2 = $7.09 earned so far this year.

I did some high-quality photo editing to demonstrate what's being diluted in the bucket. :)

Gave it to the plum tree.
