The best part of Permies is the people we meet and the shared goals we all have.

Cherish the people your meet here. They "get" you. And they have your back.

Not too many people outside of here will appreciate your wanting to add rainwater catchment to your house, or will understand your desire to add a vermicomposting outdoor toilet. I, for one, am glad to have people in my life that don't think I'm insane for wanting nice things like worm farms.

I feel supported by my friends today.

Trying to develop a creative strategy.... Thinking of having my general bring my loan draw schedule and proof of approved loan to the lumber company to see if they will give a 30 to 60 day credit period.

Definitely crazy. They even send a bank employee to the build site to verify the item is installed before they will cut a check.

Yesterday I closed on a construction loan to build my homestead. During the closing I was told that before we could request a draw, we have to have bought and installed the items for which we wish to get the money. For example, to get reimbursed for windows, I have to purchase and install the windows with other funds. So basically, since I do not have the money to prebuy everything, I now need a loan so I can use my construction loan. The bank said, its not a big deal....  general contractors a lot of times have a line of credit. Well guess what. Mine does not. Additionally, my general is doing this build for next to nothing, so I can't possibly ask him to bankroll this project for me. In what galaxy is this normal? It certainly wasn't normal the first time I built a house. Perhaps this is the  "new normal" everyone's been talking about.

Valerian root is a very good sleep aid.

That said, I recently made a lemonbalm tincture for an anti anxiety sleep aid. I added orange mint and mojito mint just for flavor. Tried it yesterday. While it worked awesome for its calming ability, I found out I have a mint allergy. So. The next tincture is Ashwaganda for me. If you are not allergic to mint, I suggest lemonbalm because it is awesome.

It does not look strong enough for that!

Prior to the pour, we will be digging in some plumbing, covering it with plastic and 2" foam, backfilling the forms and beefing up any areas needing beefing up. My dad owned a concrete company. I worked for him about 20ish years ago. My brother now owns a concrete company. Neither has scoffed at my work yet. I think by pour time we will be looking good. Your concern is appreciated!

Step one. (Real life - not AI) Forms set. Grade beams dug....  the larger hole in the middle is the footprint for a future Matt Walker masonry stove.

I decided it's time to share my current project with everyone. This is the design I have planned out using Google Gemini. We are currently still at step one, however. Got to start somewhere.

So excited! I am finally getting permits and closing on the loan on this project THIS WEEK! We've already set forms for pouring concrete so we are rolling!

Okay, looked this up on the internet and now it is saying I screwed up when I placed the saucepan in cold water to cool down faster. Also said I should have cooled it down ( without touching it) to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
