This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the
PEP curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in
round wood woodworking.

This BB is the building of a heavy kitchen chair.

This form of chair is meant to be used along with a table or counter. It can be with or without arms, but always has a backing and a solid base. Some versions get very fancy.

A classic and simple looking kitchen chair. You'd need to plane out some boards first, however, which could make it time-consuming without power tools.

While more rustic, this version requires less planing of boards.

To get certified for this BB provide photos or video (less than 2 minutes) showing the following:

  - Your chunks of wood that you are starting with
  - Progress about halfway through, with the hand tools you have decided to use for this
  - List any power tools you used (Otis would love it if you only used hand tools)
  - The final product
