This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEA curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Gardening.

If there’s one gardening task that will impact your life positively while living in a small space, it is growing plants to improve air quality. The amount of dangerous things floating in the air of most modern buildings is horrifying. Many of the plants listed in this Badge Bit are known  for having a major impact on air quality. Some can reduce the the dangerous toxins in the air by as much as 90%! Living a permaculture life isn’t just avoiding future problems, but dealing with the issues that already exist as well. Just two plants in your home will go a long way to improving your life.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
Pots can’t be plastic, cement, porous terra cotta, or styrofoam
Pots must have drain holes, overflow dish and the ability to see water in the overflow dish
Plant should be selected from the following:
- Areca Palm - Crysalidocarpus lutescens
- Mother-In-Law’s Tongue/Snake Plant - Sansevieria trifasciata
- Money Plant/Golden Pothos/Devil’s Ivy - Epipremnum aureum
- Peace Lily - Spathiphyllum ‘Mauna Loa’ cochlearispathum
- Boston Fern - nephrolepis Exaltata bostoniensis
- Spider Plant - Chlorophytum comosum
- English Ivy - Hedera helix
- Gerbera Daisy or Barberton Daisy - Gerbera jamesonii
- Red-edged Dracaena - Dracaena marginata
- Pot Mum - Chrysanthemum morifolium
- Lady Palm - Rhapis excelsa

To document and become certified for this BB provide photos or video (less than 2 minutes) showing the following:
- Show the plant and materials prior to potting
- Show the potting of the plant
- Show the plant fully potted
- Show the plant after it has grown a bit
