Permaculture playing cards

54 cards of permaculture information.  Each card represents many hours of arguing over the tiniest details.

One of the questions we are asked repeatedly is "How do you tell people what permaculture is?"  If you give them a book, they might look at a few pictures.  If you send them a link to something they tend to save it for later.  The idea of the deck of cards is that they might browse it like a book - but this is all pictures and just a few words.  Much easier to browse.  And hopefully convey a bigger picture in a smaller package.

Wood burning stoves 2.0 - the DVD(s)

The crown jewel here is the rocket mass heater, based on rocket stove technology.  This is a wood burning stove that will replace a conventional wood burning stove in a home and keep that same home just as warm using 1/10th the wood.  But that's not all.  You would think that with 1/10th the wood there would be 1/10th the smoke, but it works out to be closer to 1/1000th the smoke.  As a result, the overall environmental damage ends up far less than natural gas, electric, oil or conventional wood heat.

Hi, my name is Paul Wheaton. I am a certified master gardener and a permaculture advocate. I am the creator of two on-line communities. One is about permaculture, Permies.com, and one is about software engineering, CodeRanch.com. I'm a powerful advocate of Sepp Holzer's techniques for which a recent study showed they have the ability to feed 21 billion people without the use of petroleum or irrigation. I'm a strong advocate of hugelkultur, which sequesters carbon and eliminates the need for irrigation, and polycultures, which reduces the need for pest control and improves the health of plants. I have written several articles about lawn care, on raising chickens, cast iron and diatomaceous earth. I also regularly upload permaculture videos and permaculture podcasts. I worked as a software engineer for over 20 years. Perhaps the most well known project would be the work I did in the ground systems for the spacecraft that takes the pictures for Google Earth.

I love a good mentalist. And so does this tiny ad:
