Some call it "carbon neutral," others "carbon negative." Heat your home with yard waste and cardboard while reducing global problems - we call it free heat.  See our official page at

Rocket Mass Heaters are possibly the most powerful solution to many of the problems confronting individuals and the global population today.  For individuals, Rocket Mass Heaters can save thousands of dollars and bring greater comfort. Around our world, if a billion people used Rocket Mass Heaters as their primary source of heat, it would solve a list of global issues. The only barrier to this solution is . . . knowledge.

Last fall, I hosted an event called the Rocket Mass Heater Jamboree, intended to offer this revolutionary and accessible home heating technology to the world and cause massive positive global change. The event was a smashing success. The cameras were rolling. We collected gobs of high-quality video of many different kinds of Rocket Mass Heaters and other Rockety contraptions.

viewers will get a front row seat for all of the following builds:
-A standard, 8 inch, pebble style j-tube rocket mass heater.  This is a basic, yet incredibly high performing system.
-A 6 inch cob style j-tube rocket mass heater in a tiny house. Great heat in a smaller footprint.
-Lorena style rocket cooktop - heats a flame-embedded pot super fast, then heats the cook surface.
-A cottage-style rocket heater (with no mass) for a rocket sauna.
-A solar food dehydrator with a rocket assist for when the sun goes down.
-Installed the Liberator, a commercial product from the USA.
-Installed the Gamera, a commercial product from Bulgaria.

Other activities captured for the film:
-The basics of RMH design, build, safety, function, and maintenance.
-5-minute riser - a cheap & fast, readily available heat riser solution.
-Juice box stratification - a scheme to squeeze out a little more efficiency from the already breathtakingly efficient 8-inch system.
-An attempt at a rocket kiln/forge.  We fired some clay and melted some aluminum - a step toward more sustainable ceramics and metal-working.

Yes, I am most interested in the cooking concept with a ring bench that I saw somewhere on here. Over all a great overview of the various stove options. It looks as though there is a lot of cutting room floor information to dive into if you are interested in a particular build. Now all that is left to do is to try one out.

I made the mistake of building a large home almost 20 years ago but have worked so hard on the land, I don't want to move.  We have a FP insert in the living room that is fine.  But we added on a large room in front of original house with a almost 20 foot high ceiling.  That area and the rooms above on the second floor require a separate furnace so we have 2 furnaces and A/Cs.  Can I even think about putting a rocket stove in that room and would it heat the upstairs bedrooms at all?

Thanks Tom and Paul, for your replies. i am logged in and looking at 'My stuff'. When I click on , this comes up

"Sorry. Because of its privacy settings, this video cannot be played here."

I now realise it is doing it for all the videos, including the recent kickstarter ones.

Because the message says "its" privacy settings, , rather than 'your',  I'm assuming that it is at this end rather than my browser?

I am using Brave and  have twiddled with all its settings, quite the  browser then reopened each time, and  turned  laptop on and off a couple of times. Nothing seems to make a difference. I have started looking on help forums for Brave.  Maybe I just need to use another browser?  I used Chrome last time I tried to watch a video  from  'my stuff' here

I remember somebody once had that problem.  It turned out that some sort of fancy security on the browser was the issue.  Are you running some fancy security?

Not knowingly.  Just Brave   browser on a Macbook Air. Maybe  there are some fancy whatsits  inherent in either/both?

In any event, have just tried Firefox browser - seems to work. Fingers crossed!   Will update tomorrow or so when have more time to check out  check out in case of use to others

Yep. Just checked a variety of videos, Firefox works every time!  So seems Brave browser not compatible here.

It does seem that if it works for onebrowser, it should work for all.  My guess is that there is a glitch in brave that will be sorted later.

I had to watch this again.   Such a fine film!

It really gives you enough info to build any of these designs.  They explain them enough for you to decide which will be the best for the space you are trying to heat.

I watched it on the Brave browser and it worked great!

Thank you!

Most folks in Australia can get our stuff from Gumroad.  Can you try here? https://permies.gumroad.com/l/free-heat-movie-tiny-download

I'm working on setting up a streaming option at gumroad, as well.

Nah, can't be right, but now I'm wondering how these outdoor furnaces work.

I finally watched the movie. I have to say, Uncle Mud's axial tube in the bench of the Red Cabin is really cool.
