This is a badge bit (
BB) that is part of the
PEM curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the
straw badge in
Round Wood Woodworking.
As your roundwood construction skills are improving, it's time to make things that are elegant while still being sturdy. A garden gate is a prime example, let's give it a shot!
Here's one way you could do it. Stainless steel brads would be highly recommended:
Minimum requirements:
- Make a gate for a
fence
- Gate frame and body are sticks and logs
- At least 8 sticks are used in the body of the gate
- Swings open nearly 180 degrees
- Metal hinges and fasteners are ok
- Roundwood crafted latch than opens from both sides of the gate
- Additional fencing material can be added to provide the actual critter containment/exclusion
Provide proof of the following as pictures or
video (<2 min):
- Place where the gate will go
- Gate frame under construction
- Gate body under construction
- Latch showing operation
- Finished gate open
- Finished gate closed
