Going from a rough staircase to a finished one is a bit complicated and requires a fair level of woodworking skill. There are a number of ways to trim out a staircase. Let's take a staircase from rough to finished!
Here's a gentleman showing us one way to do it:
Minimum requirements:
- Convert a rough staircase to a nicely finished one
-
Wood treads and risers
- At least 5 steps
- Including skirt board or wide trim against walls
- Use real wood, not an engineered product
- Tight gaps in all joints. Clearly smaller gaps than the thickness of a credit card.
Provide proof of the following as pictures or
video (<2 min):
- The rough staircase
- The wood you're going to install
- Midway through the install
- Finished stairs showing tight joints
