I wanted to say a quick hi, and tell you about my project.

I'm a water and sanitation engineer with a green thumb, and a long-term interest in appropriate technology.

My passion now is Appropedia.org - a wiki for permaculture, appropriate technology, alternative building and energy, and all related topics. It's an open wiki, so all are welcome, but we do take quality seriously and monitor the pages, and we work hard to be a supportive community.

We feel it is important to create a hub for the free distribution of information, and at Appropedia we are committed to sharing what we know. We hope you'll join us and share your own expertise and experiences with the world.

Some links you may find of interest:

All feedback appreciated!

Permaculture.info has been down for a couple of weeks, and I haven't heard from the admin. There's a lot of good info on the site, so I hope all is well.

We keep backups of the Appropedia wiki, and make them publicly available - always good to have backups! We also have several admins, which helps to share the load - but always looking for more help, to enable us to develop the site more.

I just realized that Permies.com has a thread (maybe more than one?) mentioning Appropedia. I thought I'd mention that I think it's a very good and definitely evolving site:
http://www.appropedia.org/Welcome_to_Appropedia

I like that they explore concept-projects over time and make every attempt to report on them accurately and honestly.

Sustainability, resource conservation, green practices, self-reliance and community self-reliance.

The site has reportedly had 75-million views
