This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the
PEM curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in
Homesteading.
Pallet fences turn an economical material into a decent way to keep critters in or out. They won't last forever but let's build them off the ground and a bit sturdier to help them last as long as possible. Let's build a good pallet fence!
Here's one way to do it, only I'd raise the pallets off the ground a bit by attaching them to the t-posts somehow:
Minimum requirements:
- Use heat treated pallets to make a 24 foot or longer fence
- Pallets can't be touching the ground
- Posts (if used) can't be treated wood
- Any wood touching the ground needs to be naturally rot resistant
- If it zig zags or has other self supporting shapes, the "straight line" distance covered needs to still be 24 feet
- Must clearly be sturdy enough that hefty inebriated uncles can't accidentally break it down while playing soccer nearby
Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
- The area where the fence will go
- The fence under construction
- Show that the pallets are heat treated
- Finished fence showing the distance covered
