This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Homesteading.

Sometimes you need to cut down a tree and the stump ends up being an obstacle to your plans.  Dynamite isn't as available these days so let's figure out how to remove that stump!

Here's one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Remove a stump
  - Do not use petrochemicals or toxic stuff (using a vehicle is fine)
  - At least 8" in diameter
  - Heavy equipment is not permitted
  - Using a stump grinder is permitted
  - Remove stump at least to a depth of 4"
         - This is in the immediate vicinity of the stump
         - You don't need to remove every root near the surface

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The stump with diameter measurement
  - Stump removal in progress showing your technique
  - Removed stump
  - If you didn't pull the stump out, show you removed it to a depth of at least 4"
