This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Traditional Skills.

Catching fish is a great way to collect some meat. Fish hooks can be very helpful but they don't just grow on trees.  Let's make one!

Here's one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a fish hook
  - Possible materials include:
       - Bone
       - Thorn
       - Wood
       - Metal
  - 1 inch wide or smaller
       - Meaning it could fit down inside a 1" diameter tube
  - This bb can only use materials that existed 200 years ago

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The material you'll make your hook from
  - Midway through making the hook
  - Finished hook
  - Finished hook tied to a line showing that it can support a 5 lb weight without breaking, or
       - Video of you catching a fish over 8" long with the hook
