This week we are giving away a ticket to one of three Weston A Price Foundation conferences.

There is a choice of -

Regional Wise Traditions Conference

Nutrition and Behavior - 13th Annual Wise Traditions Conference

Raw Milk Symposium

For those who don't already know, the Foundation is dedicated to furthering the work of a dentist, Weston A Price, who studied the diets of un-civilised people in remote parts of the world in the 1930s. He found that traditional diets, rich in nutrients, resulted in strong, healthy people with beautiful straight teeth. The foundation has produced a set of dietary guidelines based on the findings.

Sarah Pope will be visiting us this week to answer questions and join in discussions about food, health and the Weston A Price Foundation.

From now through til Friday, any posts in this forum, ie the Food as Medicine forum, could be selected to win a ticket to one of the conferences. Full details are here.

To win, you must use a name that follows our naming policy and you must have your email set up in Paul's daily-ish email..

The winner will be notified by email and must respond within 24 hours with their snail mail address.

Posts in this thread won't count, but please feel free to welcome Sarah to the forum!

Also, the promotion is only 'live' from when this message is posted, so for anyone who has already posted a question, please make sure you keep posting! Ten posts will be chosen at random from now until Friday, and the best of those posts will be the winner. The more you post, the more chances you have of being chosen, but good questions and good discussions are the key to winning!

Your website is great! I am enjoying reading about diatomaceous earth and slugs right now! I tried for a real sounding name but my first name was taken so I went with my usual nickname from my website which is HealthnutAli. Hope that sounds real enough!

We love the Weston A. Price foundation. They inspired us to source raw milk, eat gizzards, trash the veggie oils, ditch the colorless store eggs, beans that will NEVER make you fart (through soaking with whey), and (my favorite) rediscover LARD!!! How could an organization like that not be your bff?

BTW, if anyone here doesn't have the book "Nourishing Traditions" that is a MUST have. There really is no option. You HAVE to have it. That book has changed our lives.

I've split a couple of posts off to their own topics to make sure they are entered in the competition. Please remember that to win you also need a name that fits in with our naming policy

2 questions that i've wanted answered for years: (this is also in a forum--I messed up, sorry!)

1) Placenta consumption in postpartum natives--did they do it?
2) High cholesterol readings..while we know they don't actually indicate heart disease, could chronically high readings indicate a possible inability (for some reason or another) to convert cholesterol into pregnenalone or an inability to convert LDL into something beneficial?

Conference giveaway? Awesome!
Continuing to learn about DE benefits, comfrey & other herbal poultices, raised garden beds, permaculture (must have in 100 degree temps) and more, along with babying my cast iron skillets to ensure wonderful use throughout my and my children's lifetimes ... priceless!!
Thanks permies.com for such a pool of knowledge!

Beans that never make you fart? Without Bean-O? Wow, I have a lot to learn! Actually, I have read some info from Weston Price on the internet. Enough to know I want to learn more. So glad you are getting the word out to people about food as medicine! The challenge is obtaining healthy food such as raw milk without government interference, as in Farmegeddon.

And the winner is ....

Okay, that person is not in the daily-ish email, so they are disqualified. Normally, we give away four books, so that would mean we're giving away less books. But since we have only one thing, I'm gonna try again ....

So the winner is ...

another not in the daily-ish email. Trying again ....

So the winner is ...

No way. Three in a row? Trying again ...

So the winner is ....

Had to stop by and say thanks again! The conference was so amazing!

Just as a quick over view, I attended the GAPS track Friday with Dr. Campbell-McBride, and that was mind blowing. I'm pretty sure my brain is still processing that lecture. I also checked out two of Chris Masterjohn's talks on fat soluble vitamins - he's a fantastic speaker and such a bright guy. Kresser's talk on the gut-skin axis was pretty neat, and Jeffrey Smith's talk on GMOs was quite passionate. I listened to many other speakers who really inspired me...the entire conference was just incredible. The food was out of this world, the other attendees were so friendly and passionate about nutrition, and I can't tell you how amazing it was to be around 1,500 like-minded people all at once. Wow.

I'm in over my head with school and work right now, but as soon as I get some free time, I'll stop by again and talk more about the conference and share some of my notes.

THANKS AGAIN!!!
