I recognized a plant someone posted early because they have started to become available in floral shops in the spring. I know primroses are
perennial in their
native lands but here they're purely winter and very early spring and then die in the heat. It's the same with tulips, crocus, most varieties of daffodil as we don't have
enough winter to trigger forming new flowers. I hear more northerly climates use ornamental tropical plants the same way, though it's cold that kills them. They do at least cost less and last longer than an equal number of cut flowers.
Anyone here find them worth it? I do plant a lot of ornamental plants, but I like the kind that multiple. Either self seeding annuals or plants that need occasional division.
