Hello. I can not think of any better spot to post my question than here but I am new to permies.com as of today so maybe there is a better spot than here. Anyways I helped fund this project on kickstarter.com. I did a $75 pledge and have been getting email updates about the project through kickstarter.com. In my email I received a "Project update #9" that stated at the bottom "For all the other rewards stuff, the place to ask questions is here: https://permies.com/t/160/31830#258484" and so here I am. My question is about rewards and mainly the "PODS". As I said I only just today (2-28-2014) registered at Permies.com and according to "project update #10" email I missed the first wave of some sort of secret forum thing. So that has me thinking with my late sign up here at permies.com did I miss something that had to do with receiving the "pods"? I read before making my pledge that I would receive and email of sorts with a download link to all the pods in one big download. With them asking people if they want to go to Montana and 444 people are now in the secret inner circle forum I wonder why I have heard nothing about the pods and fear I might have missed that by not being a member of this site soon enough? Could somebody tell me if the "pods" link has already happened yet or not, that would be great. There was also mention of a digital/pdf Hugelkultur booklet that I've seen nothing about. Maybe I'm jumping the gun or completely missed all of the links to this stuff. Could someone please fill me in on when or how to go about getting these simple rewards.

I'm going to boldly say that, things are proceeding apace and that the various rewards will be making their way to the respective recipients as time and talent come together on that.

I've backed almost 40 Kickstarter projects (only 4 didn't make funding so far) and over 25 IndieGoGo projects, rewards take time to come out. "Why is that, Bill?", you may ask. Pretty simple for the most part, you are kicking in money for either an unfinished or to be done project. Depending upon making the goal and receiving funding, then the final part of the project gets done. Many of the indie zombie/horror flicks I have backed (it is my not so secret addiction), sometimes it is money for effects and editing, other times it is for renting equipment for principal photography.

In this case, some of the perks/rewards are completed, but they aren't the main focus of the Kickstarter - the World Domination Gardening videos are. Getting all that footage cut, sliced, spliced, sound completion and color matching (whatever the visual editor types call making Paul look like a person, rather than the walking undead) take some time. Then the finished product needs to go to a DVD print place for the physical DVDs and uploaded for those who picked the streaming versions. Secondary rewards will come soon, patience is the key with projects like this, it will all come. and I've been waiting over a year and a half for one of my rewards from a completely different film project. It will show up in the mail one of these days and - SCHWEET, Movie Night is here!!

Paul's track record has been phenomenal for how fast his finished products make it out the door, I've checked. So to everyone who is worried about their perks/rewards - they will come. I'd suggest going out and smelling some flowers or something, but I have a mild blizzard going on outside my office window right now here in Northwest Montana.

Actually, Kickstarter itself recommends waiting at least two weeks before running the reports to fulfill rewards. The first day we ran reports there were about 7% with the payments still pending or with errors. We ran the reports again the next day and the pending or errored payments went down to about 5%. As you might imagine it's far more efficient to wait until some of those things are sorted out before doing mass fulfillments. Though we did add folks to the secret inner circle 2-3 days after and are replying to workshop inquiries 3-4 days after the Kickstarter was completed.

We are working on getting the PODS out and will update you as soon as we have news.

I don't think most of us mind being patient. Since we haven't had an email saying when the PODS would be released, some are concerned that they missed it. Personally I don't mind if it takes several weeks for the PODS to be released as long as I am kept in the loop about when they will come out.

We were told by Paul that the actual videos wouldn't be available for several months, and that is fine. I know that I have to wait.

No.

This was reported several times, so I'm repeating the message: we grab the emails from kickstarter, filter out the ones that paid $5 or more and then submit them to a special algorithm in the forum software created by the coderanch staff. If a kickstarter email matches an email for an existing permies account, that user is given access to the secret inner circle forum.

We will do this once more in about a month. Maybe a few weeks. Thus giving folks a chance to make sure that their permies.com email is the same as their kickstarter email.

What will it cost to get the DVD set and the micro documentary now that the kick starter is done? I want to get it before , but my funds just didn't open up until today. If its not doable I'm still going to purchase the DVD set at the $85 rate.

You can still get the 3-DVD set, but the micro documentary is only for those people that supported the kickstarter at $1.00 or more.

Here it is nearly two weeks later and we haven't heard anything about the pods.
Perhaps we missed an email? Last one we got was #9 about the secret forums (which we can see).
We put in $60 and our email here is the same as Kickstarter and I know our payment went through because our credit card says it did.
Where can we get access to all those lovely pods?

During the kickstarter, somebody offered us bandwidth for this very purpose. I contacted them and .... they never replied. So now we are looking into what to do next.

Fortunately, we have all the rest of march to come through with this.

Hi Tom!
Be sure that the email address you signed up on Permies with is the same one you're using for Kickstarter. Another pass at adding people will be done toward the end of March, and that will be the last attempt for this reward (although I suspect it may be offered as a reward in some form in the future.) It will be done automatically, so there's no need to ask for anything, just make sure that your emails match.

The RMH streaming was part of the reward with an estimated June 2014 delivery. Since Paul is only able to ask for information updates ONCE before fulfilling the reward, he usually waits as long as he can in order to get all the latest e-mails, addresses and user names (for streaming at different sites) in that one gob. So it's possible the RMH streaming might have to wait until closer to June.

Summer is here so I'm on the road full time. I have the streaming package and can't wait!!! YaY!!
However, being on the road means limited access to Net and often limited bandwidth monthly.
Will I be able to view the streaming DVDs at any time? Or will they be only available for a limited time?

Wish I could have brought the family out there for all this fun, but alas, I just couldn't swing it this quarter. Have fun out there!

It doesn't appear that you can pledge money to the kickstarter...When the DVD's are released I am sure that you will be able to purchase them. Wood Burning Stoves 2.0 are available via amazon. You can purchase old podcasts for $4.50/40 podcasts. You can get Permaculture Playing cards via amazon.

!! Help Please !!

I ran into a technical problem with the PODS reward for donating to the earthworks DVD. I received the podcasts and downloaded them successfully, but I had a data loss and was too careless in not backing them up. I'm not sure who to email or where to post this appropriately, but is there any way that I can be emailed a new link or somehow receive a new copy. All of my donation information could be easily confirmed I believe. Feel free to email me with a response and delete this comment/reply.

I would like to able to award you an apple for including a stretch goal of 'make this available to the world for free' (even if it wasn't reached). This really is the most important part of any project like this. Selling a few thousand DVDs is great and all, but 1 Million views on YouTube or wherever, dwarfs that. I would encourage you to do that more, and to make it a monetary rather than number of people goal. Let someone *buy* this present for the world. Heck, make it a subscription level too.
