This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.

Standing can get kind of tiring.  Sitting on the floor can make your pants dirty.  Let's make a bench so that we can sit comfortably as we look at our flourishing hugelkultur bed.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
- wide enough that two strangers can sit on it without it becoming awkward
- bench has a back
- clearly sturdy enough for use on an active homestead
- no treated wood, plywood, OSB or other engineered wood-like products
- no paint

To document your completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than two minutes):
- the wood you're starting with
- the construction partially underway
- the finished bench

I got my hands on a small stack of cedar pallets. These pallets have been heat treated NOT chemically treated.

I removed each board by hand and every nail. Then based on the lumber I had to work with I drew up a plan combining features from a couple of other bench patterns I found on line and my own personal preferences.

It's assembled with my Kreg jig and pocket hole screws.

One of my neighbors asked me to make one for her but i cant get any more pallets like that. It's still an incredible compliment ❤

Built a Leopold-style bench using cedar lumber. Just over four feet in length, so plenty of space for two strangers to get to know each other without becoming too awkward.
