After making the ‘pop can’ labels, I had  the hook left over. I could use it to make a big sewing needle.

1) Piece of coat-hanger wire

2) Straighten with pliers

3) Piece of wire to make into a needle

4) Flattening the end with a hammer on a piece of rock - not the best method and came out a bit wonky, but it’s all I had on hand.

5)  Shaping the end with a Dremel

6) Drilling the eye with a 1/16th drill bit

7) Using a file to make a sharp pointy end

8) The finished big sewing needle
