This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEA curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Metalworking.

In this Badge Bit you will make a safe from a beverage can.

Minimum requirements:
  - Made from beverage cans
  - Looks exactly like an unopened can when complete

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 mins):
  - Cans you're starting with

I followed the tutorial found here: https://littlethings.com/lifestyle/soda-can-safe

Here are the two cans:

I started with the empty / open can. I used the tin snips to remove the top

I sanded down the cut edge with 320 grit paper

For the full can, I used the tin snips to puncture two holes in the base and then emptied the can

I used the razor blade contraption from a previous task to cut the top off

I then used pliers to bend in the edges

Here’s the finished safe showing closed and open

Job done

Staff note (Mike Haasl) :

I hereby certify this BB complete!
