I was working on lot of little jobs in my garden this weekend.  I find myself using a hand truck while gardening a lot.  It just makes moving things like straw and heavy soil so much easier.  I don't have to lift it in and out of a wheelbarrow.  Plus I didn't account for the with of my wheelbarrow when I set my garden up, so it doesn't fit between the rows.  I started to think it might be interesting to know what my fellow growies use in your gardens that isn't really a garden tool.  I thought it would be fun and I may find a new tool to make gardening a little easier.  Thanks

My hack is rather dumb because I haven't been ambitious enough to come up with something better.  I use a big heavy pick to drag through the top inch of soil to make a furrow for planting things like peas and beans.  And when I say "drag", I'm carefully holding it so the pick head is parallel to the ground so the point is going in the direction of travel and as it splits open the soil, it pushes it away to the side.  Very crude and I could do better.  Now you know

Mike if it works for you, then it's a good hack.

It's weird that we cook bacon and bake cookies. Eat this tiny ad:
