I'm happy to hear the tumor is doing better Paul! I'm a fan of nutritionfacts.org which has a lot of good peer reviewed research regarding nutrition. In the US, according to whatever the statistics department is called, 14 of the top 15 causes of death are food related. It sounds like you're going down the right path. There are a ton of healthy recipes on that site and a good number are easier to make, if you'd like options for meal variety

Paul,

I honor your choices, but if this is a GI specific thing and you need any help in navigating the path I'm more than willing to provide information for you to make the best decision.

I've been a GI a certified GI nurse for nearly 10 years and know the ins and outs.

Not saying what you are doing won't work, but if it comes to needing anything else I can give you an inside opinion.

I'll eventually hit your patreon because because I too am always looking for all answers.  Even the ones that may not be widely accepted.

Best!

Dear Paul,
Thank you for sharing; I'm sure it felt very difficult and awkward, but it's done and now many, many of your "peeps" can join you on the journey and/or keep you in their prayers.  You'll probably hear from a lot of people who can sympathize with what you're going through.

Good for you for seeking your own path through this!  And it's impressive that your doctor is supporting you in your "alternative journey".  Too many do not.  Their way or the highway, as it were.

Best of luck with your journey, I'm so glad you're finding success with your choices.  You'll be in my prayers.

Agree with you decision to not go conventional “cut, burn, poison route. Check out CancerTutor.com and Ty Bollinger’s book “Cancer, Think Outside the Box”.
Prayers for you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you Paul for sharing this with us.

It's a tricky topic to talk about.  Thank you for keeping it solution-focused and sharing things that we can do to make this better (both for you and for others in a similar situation).

Now, to find that moderator hat of mine... I think it's under the sofa. Yep.

For those of you who want to talk about this topic in detail, the private forum is a great place to do that.   There are some good conversations going on there already.

If people want to talk about toxins and the problems with Cancer, the cider press is the place for that.  https://permies.com/t/31128/tnk/category-Cider-Press

As a reminder, some of our members work in healthcare.  Badmouthing them doesn't match with the Be Nice rule.  https://permies.com/t/2296/nice

For everyone else, I'm so happy to see a conversation about cancer that is solution-focused.

Cancer sucks!

I deleted a number of posts from folks wanting to talk about treatment and stuff.

You can talk about Paul's situation in the private forum on the other side of this purchase:

Glad to see Tommy appears to be going the right direction! I worked with a family who has been battling cancer for the last 50 years (first the daughter then her mother) through raw whole foods, etc. Making softball sized tumors disappear beyond the explanation of the medical professionals I was working with. I'm glad to hear you are finding success as well. I just read "How Not to Die" by Dr. Michael Greger and was very moved and inspired by his findings and his simplicity around eating well and staying healthy. He even has an app! And that he has taken the field of nutrition which seems so tailored to each person's individual needs and circumstances... And made it pretty basic on best health practices for everyone. What eating well looks like.

Hi Paul,

Cancer SUCKS. Lost my husband to it 6 years ago. He was the opposite of health oriented, smoker, drinker, stressful life. He did radiation which did not help much. Diagnosed June 2018, passed Dec 7 2018. Yes, that fast. I know there are meny herbals and supplements that can help, muchrooms like Lion's Mane and Reishi. I wish you the best in your journey.

Great progress Paul!! Im sure you're researching the @#$% out of this in terms of what you're putting in your body, but thought I'd add my 2 cents because I'm rooting hard for you! Look into medicinal mushrooms (info can be obtained from Christopher Hobbs and/or Paul Stamets). Also, anti-angiogenic foods (Dr's. Michael Greger and/or William Li could be good resources). WFPB may be helpful while you're kicking cancer's icky ass! You've got this, and there are so many of us wishing you wellness and sending you healing vibes.

Paul, that is not happy news, except for the part of you thinking for yourself and taking very active steps to challenge this. Congratulations on your success so far! Here's a big hug (maybe not as big as it would have been 18 months ago). I am sending my best, and part of a song that inspires me:
A heart that's full of love cannot be broken
This heart of mine keeps wishing, working and hoping.

Looks like you have more to delete, Beau.

Folks, pay attention to what Paul asked. Do not suggest treatments in this thread. Go to the private forum if you want to offer Paul some assistance, where you will have the opportunity to learn what he is already doing.

I wish I could support right now and go to the private forum, my tiny bit of suggestion (without going into problematic reasoning) is to take off your shoes! Spend as much time in contact with the ground as possible, the wetter the better! Spend long periods of time in natural water, creek, lake, etc.

Good on you for not going the allopathic route, I applaud you. Should I get the Big C myself, chemo, radiation, and drugs will be the absolute LAST thing I try, if at all. There's so many other natural avenues out there worth trying that won't completely trash your day and your immune system.

Hi Paul,
Not sure where to find the link about the bunks or acre project, I'm going to look now, but before I leave this page I thought I'd let you know that your program sounds intriguing. I'm on a personal health journey myself and it would be nice to connect with someone else.

Could be great if you're in Oregon, otherwise let's figure out online. Hugs and keep up the great work

paul wheaton wrote:The tricky part of this is that I'm used to going to restaurants two or three times per week.  And now it is a hard zero.

Combine that with extreme food limitations and being a sub-mediocre cook (and a bucket of crazy that blocks building new skills in this space) and the food gets pretty boring.

Paul, I know how that is. I haven't been around here much because I figured out I'm allergic to most commonly eaten plants and have become almost a carnivore. My dining out options quickly dropped to almost none, except sushi. Even places like steakhouses often marinate their meat in problematic ingredients. So I cook almost all my own food, mainly eat beef and chicken (organic), and supplement with other (non-organic) meats on occasion for variety (mammals, molluscs, fish). I also had to give up eggs for a few years before successfully reintroducing them. Thankfully I have no issue with real dairy (a lot of processed dairy has garbage ingredients).

I don't know what restrictive eating you are following, but you certainly have my sympathy when it comes to a lack of flavour variety.

In my case, with meat, I cannot wait to get a barbecue going again, because some things just taste better that way. Cooking methods can alter the taste of food, so it's something to experiment with.

Not restricting myself from the foods I can eat has been helpful. If I'm craving anything off menu, I eat my favourite stuff that's on menu until I'm full even if I'm not particularly hungry. Eventually the body learns.

When I stopped eating gluten 15 years ago, it took 6 months for the wheat cravings to go away, but they did. Gluten, specifically the gliadin component, can degrade into exorphins, which are exogenous opiod peptides. Yep, gluten is basically an opiate with addictive properties. It is likely celiac disease is what lead to my becoming allergic to so many plants.

I get the frustration of "helpful" suggestions as well. Many people will suggest things like ginger for stomach problems when I have an anaphylactic reaction to it. They still mean well.

You can get through this.

Oh geez Paul, I am so sorry to hear this news. I am tied down with dying mother, a farm and a job so helping out in Missoula is not in the cards for me. I am an atheist so you won't be in my prayers but in my thoughts. Wishing you well.

When organic foods beats Tommy the tumor into remission what a story that will be!

Give him he'll and Fck Cancer!
