Hello Bruce,

I suggest you grow what you think you most need. It sounds like you have experience with herbs, so pick those you use the most. They do need to be able to grow where you live of course too.

Hello Dr. Tilgner! Thank you for stopping in!

I don’t usually post much, but I had to participate in this opportunity. I’m an undergraduate horticulture student, novice organic home gardener, and a hobbiest forager. My health concerns have been ongoing despite working with a number of doctors over the years, and my quality of life looked truly dismal until I delved into the world of traditional medicine. It’s been only a few months since I’ve started to study the native plants in my area through a medicinal lens, but I’m already thrilled about what’s possible. I’ve been so eager to learn as much as I can, especially since there seems to be a lack of appreciation for medicinal plants and fungi amongst my like-minded peers. The more I read the more I’m compelled to share the information with anyone who will listen.

I am so excited to jump into your work! Thank you for devoting yourself to such an incredibly important field of research, it’s truly inspiring 🌿

Hello Carol and Shelby,

Thank you for the welcome. For a while people seemed to forget about herbs, but that has changed. People become more and more interested in herbs as time goes by. Many for the same reason as you Shelby, mainstream medicine fails them and they go looking elsewhere. Some are lucky enough to be introduced to plants by their elders through gardening, foraging, or as medicine. It is important for us to keep teaching the young ones to use their natural resources and to be grateful for them.

Ho, it does not work for outside the USA! But it was available on Amazon Spain!

And YES, a very big thank you because I could spot what issue I had to check and solve! I was amazed by the length of her answers and the dedication to really help us and inform us as much as possible with such a generosity!

I was late to this discussion (ironically, I was embroiled in trying to find a really good herbal medicine book, reading Kindle samples, etc.), and then have spent this morning reading all the reviews for the earlier editions of your book. In short: I went to Amazon and bought the third edition pronto! Normally, I like to have Kindle editions, but in this case I wanted something that my partner, Robert, who turns up his nose at the idea of using herbs, could read and not reject out of hand with "That won't work!" The scientific studies will be very helpful in convincing him to try things that I, after learning from this book, will suggest and prepare for him.

I'll have it in my hot little hands in two days, and I am so excited! Thank you!

Thank you Nicole for setting this all up, and thank you to the other Permies helpers behind the scenes for making this happen. I also want to give a special thank you to you Nicole for being the first to write up a review of my new 3rd edition of "Herbal Medicine From The Heart Of The Earth" on Amazon. You spent quite a bit of time on it and when it went to the wrong book, you even made sure you got it to the correct book. That was above and  beyond and I appreciated it as the reviews on Amazon make a difference  as far as your book being seen and purchased.

I have enjoyed answering questions. There are so many knowledgeable people on Permies, and I am always thankful when someone has taken the time to answer one of my questions. It has been wonderful to spend this week interacting with all of you. The Permies tribe did keep me busy this week, and I was grateful to be able to share information about herbal medicine and naturopathic medicine in general with so many like-minded souls. I will continue of course to answer questions as I have in the past.

I feel great gratitude to everyone here at Permies and can't wait to send out the books to the final winners.

Congratulations Joylynn Hardesty, Sena Kassim, Carla Burke, and Amy Arnett!  What a COOL book to win!  Enjoy!

Edited to add:
I didn't see that we had a special guest and book giveaway until yesterday so I couldn't really post a lot to try to win, but I saw that there were discounted books (25% off the 3rd edition and 15.00 damaged copies).  I went ahead and ordered a copy of the 3rd edition of "Herbal Medicine from the Heart of the Earth" and a damaged copy of "Herbal ABC's".  I'm really excited about getting these books as I was actually looking for some new herb books.  Does anyone have any idea about how long delivery takes?

Thanks again, Ms. Sharol, for being available to answer questions this week, and thanks Permies for highlighting what looks like an awesome book!

Thank you T.J., Sena and Susie.

Regarding your question T.J., books are sent out Mon-Fri by media mail in the U.S.A. and how long it takes, depends on how far away you are from Oregon. For people outside of the U.S.A. my books are available through Amazon.
