I'm considering building a small rocket stove cookstove.

I've seen a couple of designs involving tin cans - is there any off-gasing of nasty stuff when they are first used?

Is there any reason to *not* use Roxul "Safe'N'Sound" as the insulation in a rocket stove? From their website:
"Non-combustible stone wool insulation with melting point of approx. 1177°C (2150°F)"

Bummer no replies !

But I just discovered the original book is for sale as a PDF for $15 :

We ought to share a copy LOL

I bet that book has designs you can use.

Post an update when you get one built
