Leaving aside the question of whether pruning is a good idea at all from a purist
permie point of view, I remember once reading a story about a peach (?) growing co-operative where the size of the fruits was getting smaller because the farmers were too reluctant to prune their
trees heavily
enough. So someone hit on the idea of each farmer pruning his neighbour's trees. The farmers were far more ruthless when it wasn't their own trees, and the resulting crops had far larger fruit as a result.
Now I've got the gist of the story right there but I wondered if anyone had more corroborative detail i.e. where the co-operative was, was it actually peaches or something else? Because I want to use it as a case study and be sure I didn't just make it up...
