HELP ! Growing in Concrete beds .. SAFE ??

I'm helping friends build their veggie garden & against my wishes they made concrete beds. What can we line these with as from what I know leeching will occur.

Also any resources I can refer their builders to for future reference would be very helpful !! Thanks !!

I'm not sure what concrete is exactly so I don't know what the expected leachates are but if you all are in vegas than concrete, stone, or some other thick rocky material seems like a great idea for raised beds. It will help keep the soil cooler in the heat of the day and act to warm it up during your cold desert nights. The only thing I can think for a lining would be some kind of clay layer on the inside.

The reality is they can plant in the concrete containers and live a long healthy life.

If there is a safety concern(valid or not valid, doesn't matter) and there are better substitutes out there, use the substitutes.
