cosmetic glitches

This is the thread for reporting cosmetic glitches in the new forum software.

I just had a report that when putting a thread on facebook, a one eyed moose shows up as the image!

It might be a bit more involved than that (?) - see the screenshot.

Not sure if this is the correct forum to pose this question, but...

I've only been online a couple of times since the software change. I notice today that when I look at a post there is much less revealed to the left about the Member who authored the post, compared to under the old software. It used to display the author's biography line and it used to display quick links to message them, to access their outside email, or to access their web page (if they provided such in their Member profile). Now I see none of this. Was this change intentional? Is there a setting or preference somewhere I am supposed to adjust in order to display these items again?

The folks that do development for the new software are keen on looking at permies and seeing what it is that folks want. They've been talking about adding something about location to the stuff on the left.

@Paul - Yes, I know that all publicly visible info is available when one clicks on the link (users name) to the left, because that directs to that user's profile page. But I think a lot of people don't realize that, or else are less likely to take the time to do so. Having quick links and quick facts about the user displayed right there on the left, right next to the post one is reading, I really believe that would be very helpful. Displaying the poster's location would be an especially good idea, since that informs so much about their post to know where they do their growing. Recall that I mentioned how the "Biography" field used to be displayed to the left of each post, and notice that both you and I have included some info about our locations in our Biographies.

I prefer something cleaner, but I can also imagine somebody liking something richer. Perhaps a logged in user could have a configuration that shows much more info about the posters.

@Paul - That's not a bad idea. I can appreciate the cleaner look, too, but in general I usually go for putting everything at the user's fingertips. Especially since there does not appear to be an FAQ or other "this is how the mechanics of this site work" tutorial for the new Permies user (unless I have missed it). Makes it all the more important to have options on display. That way people are prompted to understand the site's functionality: you have to know that there is something out there to look for before you can even worry about where to look for it. The greater number of steps away from the starting interface - and in this case I would consider just browsing a post as the starting interface - the less likely a user will be to discover what he needs to know.
